Events can be registered at any time up to the end of the festival.
The event or activity must be taking place in South Gloucestershire during September or October 2016.
Each event must be registered separately if any of the information (except for the date/time) is different. If you wish to promote your weekly sessions and all the details are the same except for the date/time you will have the option to add additional dates and the system will create an entry for each session.
If you are thinking of registering a Heritage Open Day (HOD) event, please consult the guidelines on their website. Heritage Open Days is a national event intended to provide entrance to historic or significant properties not normally accessible or for which there is normally an admission charge. As such properties participating should not be charging for entry. Please register HOD events registered with Discover on the national website too.
Please make your event description informative, interesting and welcoming so that people want to come to your event. The council reserves the right to edit event descriptions.
Under 'additional information' please include any information that attendees might need to know. For example:
- access information
- meeting points
- restrictions on those attending such as children must be accompanied by an adult
- whether dogs are allowed on walks
- any equipment people need to bring such as their own cameras for a workshop
- specific clothing (boots, waterproofs, exercise clothing)
For bookable events, most organisations manage their own bookings so that they can monitor attendances, respond more easily to queries and keep all the income. Please ensure that you include the relevant information in the box provided if you are taking your own bookings. For example:
- website or link to your Eventbrite page
- phone number
- or opening hours and address of booking location
In special cases the council may take bookings through the council's Eventbrite page. To submit a request please select this option on the drop down list. Eventbrite charge for paid events (currently 2.5% of the ticket price plus £0.99 per ticket, plus a 2.5% payment processing fee).
The Discover Festival is just one way to get your event noticed. Please remember to carry out all your usual marketing activity as well.
