Look out for your postal voting pack for the General Election

South Gloucestershire residents who have registered to vote by post will shortly receive their postal voting pack for the General Election on Thursday 4 July 2024.

Postal voting packs should be completed and returned as soon as possible through the Royal Mail system using the prepaid envelope provided. The deadline to get postal voting packs to the council’s elections team is 10pm on polling day Thursday 4 July.

There have been boundary changes for the constituencies within South Gloucestershire Council.

The constituencies of Filton & Bradley Stoke and Thornbury & Yate are run by South Gloucestershire Council.

For electors who are in the constituency of North East Somerset & Hanham, this election is being run by Bath and North East Somerset Council.

For electors who are in the constituency of Bristol North East, this election is being run by Bristol City Council.

If you choose not to post your postal voting pack through the Royal Mail system, and you live within either Filton & Bradley Stoke or Thornbury & Yate constituencies, you may hand it in to the Acting Returning Officer at the Council Offices, Badminton Road, Yate, BS37 5AF during normal office hours (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm).

Alternatively, you can hand in your postal voting pack on election day at any polling station in your constituency, between 7am and 10pm. You can find your nearest polling station at https://wheredoivote.co.uk

Postal voting packs for the constituency of North East Somerset & Hanham may be handed in to the Returning Officer at Bath and North East Somerset Council at The Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW.

Postal voting pack for the constituency of Bristol North East may be handed in to the Returning Officer at Bristol City Council at CYPS Reception, B Bond, Smeaton Road, Bristol, BS1 6XN.

Alternatively, you can hand in your postal voting pack on election day at any polling station in your constituency, between 7am and 10pm. You can find your nearest polling station at https://wheredoivote.co.uk

Due to new legislation if you decide to hand deliver your postal voting pack to either a council office or your local polling station, you will be asked to complete a short form. You can only hand in your own postal voting pack, and the postal voting pack of up to five other electors.

Residents without postal voting arrangements in place and voting in person at their polling station on polling day, must present an accepted form of photo ID to the polling station staff. If you do not have an accepted form of photo ID you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate before the deadline at 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
