Alfred was born 1896 (2nd Quarter) and Baptised at Christ Church Downend on 2 March 1898, the same day as his older brother Ernest. Ernest also died during the war (they were the only two children of George and Edith).

Alfred served with the 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry and he died on 27/05/1919 (Special Military Surgical Hospital, Southmead, Bristol – cause unknown).

Alfred is commemorated on the Christ Church Downend Memorial and the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial.
