Arthur was born in 1891 (2nd Quarter) Stapleton Parish. On the 1911 Census, Arthur was living with his parents in Hermitage Road. Arthur was the eldest of 6 children.

Arthur served with the 10th Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and was Killed in Action on 27/07/1916 (Reported missing 23/07/1916).

Arthur is commemorated on the Christ Church Downend Memorial and the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial.
