The 1914 Star with clasp was awarded to those who had served under fire or who had operated within range of enemy mobile artillery in France or Belgium during the period between 5 August and 22 November 1914

Arthur was Killed in Action during the First Battle of the Aisne during an attack on German positions at Moussey, France. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the La-Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine-et-Marne, France
