Further information:

Charles was the youngest of 7 brothers and his father and his older brothers worked as farm labourers in a farming co-operative known as “The Bellum “in Marshfield. Prior to his war service with the Royal Army Service Corps he lived with his widowed mother. After May of 1943 when axis powers surrendered in the Middle East, the main focus of the war moved to Italy but some soldiers remained. Ramleh Cemetery was used by various British General Hospitals posted in turn to the area for varying periods, but it is unclear how Charles died. According to his war records, Charles died as the result of an accident”.
