George Fletcher was born in Yate to parents John and Mary Jane Fletcher of Rose Cottage, North Road, Yate. George was the brother of Herbert who also died in the Great War in 1918. Their father was working as a coal-miner in 1911

George Fletcher served with the "D" Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
George died on the 28th April 1919 aged 20 years. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals. George Fletcher is buried in the church yard of St Mary's Church in Yate
