Hugh Noble Taylor was the son of John and Harriet Maria Taylor of Yate Lawn Cottage, Yate, Bristol. He was brother to Robert, Mildred and Wilfred. His father was a gardener who had been born in Wiltshire

Hugh had been living with his Uncle in 1911 in Chippenham. Hugh enlisted in Ross on Wye and joined the 1st Battalion of the Herefordshire Regiment. He was killed in action in Egypt and is buried in the Beersheba War Cemetery, Beersheba, Israel. Ref: E. 60. Israel and Palestine (including Gaza)
