Leslie was born in Hawkesbury whilst his father was working as a mason on the Beaufort Estate. He had 2 older sisters Dorothy and Sibyl. He married Jenny Mann in Crickhowell in 1939.
Leslie served in the Royal Marines Plymouth Division and died at Royal Marine Headquarters in Llwyngwril Merionethshire as a result of injuries sustained in a bicycle accident.
