Percy joined up in 1940 and fought in the Western Europe Campaign. From November 1944 the regiment defended the Nijmegen bridges in the Ardennes to aid the allied advance. It remained in position until cease fire on 3rd May 1945 and after VE Day, was engaged in occupation duties under the Canadians. Percy was recorded as missing presumed killed less than 2 weeks after VE day. The reasons for this are uncertain.
