Further information:

Vivian was an employee of Bristol Aeroplane Company and is commemorated on the company’s war memorial inside St Peter’s Church. He was killed as a result of a bombing raid at Bristol Aeroplane Co. Works at Filton.

On the 1939 Register, Vivian lived with his wife Elsie Mary Cashmore at 694 Filton Avenue. She was born on 16/11/1915 and her occupation recorded on the register was unpaid domestic duties. After the war Elsie married Leonard Johns in 1946 (Cardiff District).

On the 1939 Register, Vivian’s parents lived at Canal Side, Cefn, Rogerstone, Near Newport. His father was a road worker for the County Council. There was one other member of the household at the time, but the record is closed. This would have been Vivian’s younger brother or sister. It is possible that there Vivian had two older brothers and a younger brother and sister, but more research would be needed to verify these.
