Wilfred Henry Chamberlain was born in 1891 at Frampton Cotterell. His father worked as a coal miner. Both his parents were born in Frampton Cotterell and they lived at Brockridge, Frampton Cotterell. His siblings were Mary, Kate, Elsie, Harold and Ruby, the children were all born in Frampton Cotterell

Wilfred joined the 12th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment and served as Private 22694. He was Killed in Action at the Battle of the Somme on the 24th July 1916. Wilfred is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial, France (Ref: Pier and Faces 5 A and 5 B)
