Rita Roblin has long been an inspiration to others but now it is her time to shine.
Congratulations to Rita, Vice Chair of our Fostering Panel, who has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list for her services to children.
Rita has been a Bristol foster carer for about 20 years and has cared for a number of children and young people with learning difficulties. She is also Chair of the North Somerset Fostering Panel.
As you can imagine, that is a lot of love, support and understanding that she has provided to families across South Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset over the years. Now, we are proud that her hard work has been recognised with an MBE in the New Year Honours list.
On hearing of Rita’s MBE, Council Leader Matthew Riddle, said: “Our warmest congratulations go to Rita on this well-deserved achievement. Rita has been a panel member and Vice-Chair of the South Gloucestershire Fostering Panel for a number of years and has played a vital role in the approval and review process of our connected carers, foster carers and short break carers. It’s fantastic to see the invaluable role of foster carers honoured in this way.”
Rita is married with three children and six grandchildren and is also a trustee of a charity helping orphans in Bulgaria.
