{"id":18554,"date":"2018-10-04T16:44:11","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T15:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/?p=18554"},"modified":"2018-10-04T16:44:11","modified_gmt":"2018-10-04T15:44:11","slug":"celebrate-libraries-week-in-south-gloucestershire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/community\/celebrate-libraries-week-in-south-gloucestershire\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrate Libraries Week in South Gloucestershire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Libraries Week takes place from 8 to 13 October and South Gloucestershire residents are invited to drop in to their local library to find out about the new service and how libraries can support the health &amp; wellbeing of communities and residents.<\/p>\n<p>Our new library service has now been in operation for a year and we would like to tell everyone more about our development, including:<br \/>\n* The option for library users to visit selected libraries when they are unstaffed seven days a week with Open Access<br \/>\n* A growing range of digital services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week<br \/>\n* The improved LibrariesWest app that enables you to manage your library account at any time.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to provide a staffed library service which promotes the value of reading to our communities and includes an exciting programme for children of all ages, along with expert-endorsed book collections on a wide variety of health matters, a local information service, and digital skills support.<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet Member for Communities and Tourism Cllr Paul Hughes said: \u201cCome along to your local library during Libraries Week and find out about everything on offer including our new services.<br \/>\n\u201cOver the last few months the library service has been working on its development plans for the next three years. As part of this we have created a new vision for South Gloucestershire Libraries: the space where people, communities and ideas grow. This reflects the role of libraries as unique community buildings, which are open to everyone and provide resources at a local level which can inform and inspire people of all ages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Libraries Week drop-ins will take place at the locations, dates and times below:<\/p>\n<p>Bradley Stoke Library, Monday 8 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Staple Hill Library, Monday 8 October, 2pm \u2013 4pm<\/p>\n<p>Yate library, Tuesday 9 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Emersons Green Library, Tuesday 9 October, 2pm \u2013 4pm<\/p>\n<p>Patchway Library, Wednesday 10 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Kingswood Library, Wednesday 10 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Thornbury Library, Thursday 11 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Hanham Library, Thursday 11 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Filton library, Thursday 11 October, 2pm \u2013 4pm<\/p>\n<p>Cadbury Heath Library, Friday 12 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Downend Library, Friday 12 October, 10.30am \u2013 12 midday<\/p>\n<p>Winterbourne Library, Friday 12 October, 2pm \u2013 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, induction sessions for our Open Access service are being held at Yate Library on Sunday 7 October and Bradley Stoke Library on Sunday 14 October at 10am, 11am and 12pm.
