{"id":19964,"date":"2018-12-12T22:40:09","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T22:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/?p=19964"},"modified":"2018-12-21T09:47:19","modified_gmt":"2018-12-21T09:47:19","slug":"new-chief-executive-chosen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/business-and-economy\/new-chief-executive-chosen\/","title":{"rendered":"New Chief Executive chosen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">We have taken the decision to appoint current Deputy Chief Executive Dave Perry as our next Chief Executive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">At the December 12 Full Council meeting, councillors voted to accept the unanimous recommendation of the cross-party Appointments &amp; Employment Committee panel, who made their decision following a robust recruitment process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">In this process, the panel identified Dave\u2019s proven track record as Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Corporate Resources and highlighted the exceptional leadership skills, resilience and invaluable experience he brings to the role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">The news follows current Chief Executive Amanda Deeks\u2019 announcement in November of her intention to retire in 2019 after 14 years in the role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Following a transition period, Dave will take over as Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service in 2019 on a date yet to be finalised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Dave, who has served as deputy for the past 11 years, said: \u201cIt is a great honour and privilege to be selected as the next Chief Executive of South Gloucestershire Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u201cThe council has an excellent reputation, and that is down to the hard work and commitment of its officers and councillors, as well as Amanda\u2019s leadership \u2013 she will certainly be a hard act to follow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">\u201cI have a genuine passion for South Gloucestershire, and am really looking forward to working to improve services, and make South Gloucestershire an even better place to live and work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;line-height: 150%;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Council Leader Cllr Toby Savage said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to have someone of Dave\u2019s calibre to take the reins from Amanda.
