{"id":22066,"date":"2019-08-29T16:09:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T15:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/?p=22066"},"modified":"2019-09-30T16:52:23","modified_gmt":"2019-09-30T15:52:23","slug":"school-building-improvements-across-south-gloucestershire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.southglos.gov.uk\/newsroom\/education\/school-building-improvements-across-south-gloucestershire\/","title":{"rendered":"School building improvements across South Gloucestershire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are carrying out more maintenance improvements to school buildings than ever this year, with work taking place at a number of primary schools across South Gloucestershire over the summer holidays and in to the autumn.<\/p>\n<p>This maintenance work includes new roofing, heating and water services, replacement electrical work and new windows.<\/p>\n<p>The investment totals over \u00a32 million in maintenance in this year alone and forms part of a four year programme of work totalling \u00a37.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills and Employment Cllr Erica Williams said: \u201cImproving educational standards in South Gloucestershire is our top priority and we want to make sure that our pupils have the best school facilities available that we are able to provide. These considerable improvements that are taking place at a number of primary schools across our area will help ensure that we are adequately prepared for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>South Gloucestershire Council\u2019s Cabinet has approved a record \u00a378 million investment into schools over the next four years, funding the creation of new schools as well as capital improvements to a number of existing school buildings.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of the maintenance work to be carried out is below and will all be completed before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Frampton Cotterell Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a3945,000 Complete electrical re-wire, replacement of suspended ceiling, heating, hot and cold water services pipework<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Whites Infant School<br \/>\n\u00a3200,000 Curtain walling (non-structural, outer covering of a building)<\/p>\n<p>Hawkesbury Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a3150,000 Replacing roofing<\/p>\n<p>Cadbury Heath Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a3135,000 Replacing boiler plant and heating controls<\/p>\n<p>St John&#8217;s Mead Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a3130,000 Replacing boiler plant in main building<br \/>\n\u00a350,000 Replacing low level windows<\/p>\n<p>Olveston Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a3116,000 Rewire part of the \u2018old school\u2019 building and replacing heating in KS1 area<\/p>\n<p>Crossways Junior School<br \/>\n\u00a3103,000 Replacing hot and cold water services<\/p>\n<p>Crossways Infant School<br \/>\n\u00a396,000 Replacing hot and cold water services<\/p>\n<p>Various schools<br \/>\n\u00a380,000 Replacing obsolete heating \/ hot water controls<\/p>\n<p>Oldbury-on-Severn Primary School<br \/>\n\u00a350,000 Replacing roofing (flat roof)<\/p>\n<p>Various schools<br \/>\n\u00a350,000 Mains electricity alterations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are carrying out more maintenance improvements to school buildings than ever this year, with work taking place at a number of primary schools across South Gloucestershire over the summer holidays and in to the autumn.
