Approximately 120 EV charging connections will be installed as part of the Revive vehicle charging network, with 42 of these located across South Gloucestershire. To use the charge points, users can sign up to Revive at www.revivecharging.net.

We are committed to encouraging the uptake of EVs across the region as a more environmentally friendly alternative to petrol or diesel cars. There are a range of benefits to owning an EV, from air quality to financial gains.

We believe this investment in the publicly available charging network will give residents and businesses the confidence to invest in EVs to help us achieve our carbon emissions targets.

South Gloucestershire Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Strategic Infrastructure, Cllr Steve Reade said: “We are pleased to see our electric vehicle charging network continue to grow throughout South Gloucestershire.

“The installation of charge points at our car parks in these key areas will make switching to an electric vehicle a credible and attractive option for motorists in the area.

“We have made a commitment to lower carbon emissions, as part of our climate change goals, and supporting the growth of the electric vehicle charging network will enable people to adopt greener travel choices, as well as creating a greater mix of sustainable travel options.”

As the up-take of electric vehicles increases, we are working to ensure that we put in place a strategy that reflects the role of the local authority and explore the options for further public charging locations across South Gloucestershire.

We are working to install both fast chargers (22kWh) and rapid chargers (50kWh) in our public car parks and on-street.

All of the charge points installed within South Gloucestershire Council car parks will be available to use via the West of England-owned Revive network, which is free to join and will include use of the many GeniePoint charging points across the UK.

To find electric vehicle charging stations near you visit https://travelwest.info/electric-vehicles/charging-points

The first phase of charge points in South Gloucestershire have all been installed and will be fully operational by the end of March.
