South Gloucestershire Council has welcomed news the Y6 bus service will be re-routed, after raising residents\u2019 calls with First Bus to make it more accessible for communities affected by the National Highways closure of the A432 Badminton Road overbridge.<\/p>\n
The Council has been working closely with local communities, First Bus and the West of England Combined Authority to find alternative solutions to the temporary shuttle bus service which will stop running in early April.<\/p>\n
National Highways \u2013 who fund the shuttle bus, agreed to extend the service while the council continued talks with First and the Combined Authority to find alternative solutions. The Y6 will now serve the Beesmore Road area of Coalpit Heath when the shuttle service ends, following the talks.<\/p>\n
South Gloucestershire Council\u2019s Cabinet Member with responsibility for transport, Councillor Chris Willmore said: \u201cIt is great news that First Bus has listened to our calls to re-route the Y6 service to serve areas of Coalpit Heath so residents there can continue to connect with jobs and essential services in nearby areas. Residents who aren\u2019t served by the Y6 will be able to pre-book the WESTlink service when the temporary shuttle bus stops running on 7 April.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand how disruptive the National Highways work to the A432 bridge has been to local residents and we\u2019ve been doing everything possible to keep communities connected by exploring alternative solutions and working with partners and bus operators.\u201d<\/p>\n
