Army Meritorious Service Medal
There were effectively two types of Meritorious Service Medal, the first being one with an annuity for distinguished or meritorious service, and the one more commonly seen which is the immediate award for exceptionally valuable or meritorious service (or gallantry not in the face of the enemy). The latter was without an annuity
The ribbons on the medal were different depending upon which branch of the armed forces the recipient served with. The recipients details are impressed around the rim of the medal.
The reverse of the medal states “For Meritorious Service” in a crowned laurel wreath.
