Queens South Africa Medal
Awarded for service in the Anglo-Boer War 1899 to 1902. Awarded to the Army and Navy (as well as local forces)
There were 26 authorised clasps (or bars) issued for this medal. Some clasps relate to individual battles, some to service in a particular state of South Africa and also two date clasps for 1901 and 1902. It was possible to receive the medal without any clasps.
The name, rank and unit of the recipient is impressed (sometimes engraved) around the rim of the medal.
