Albert served in “A” Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment. He died at the Second Battle of Ypres. He is commemorated along with his brother Harry Hughes on the Menin Gate Memorial (Panel 22 and 24). He has no known grave. He went missing and was never identified. He is buried on the battlefield according to a local soldier.
