Arthur was born in 1897 (1st Quarter) in Pucklechurch.

Arthur served with the 51st Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery and died on 17/10/1918 (Killed in Action).
Although the 'Soldiers died during the Great War' record shows that Arthur was killed in action, other records note that he died at No.18 Casualty Clearing Station, presumably from wounds.

Arthur is commemorated on the Christ Church Downend Memorial and the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial.
On the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial his surname has been misspelt Willcox.
