Albert Davis was born in Tytherington to parents, Thomas and Emily Davis. Thomas was an engine driver in the local stone quarry. There were ten children in the family, in 1911 Albert was 13, the fourth child and listed as a farm labourer. Emily contributed 2s 6d to the Tytherington War Memorial Fund
Lance Corporal 25177 Albert Davis served with the 12th Gloucestershire Regiment and was Killed in Action in France on 22nd April 1917. Albert is remembered on the Arras Memorial in France
