Albert was married to Marjorie Irene Thompson.

Albert came over to France in the D-Day landings and was killed during the first assault by the 2nd Gloucesters against Tilly-sur-Seulles on 11th June. This was the regiment's first major battle during the Normandy Campaign and in spite of Albert's exhortations, the Glosters were unnerved by the lack of the anticipated tank support and fell back instead of fighting on.
