Albert William Jones was born in Wraxall in 1889, the son of Francis Watkin and Mary Jones. Albert attended Frenchay Village School and left at the age of 14 years old in 1903

Albert enlisted in October 1915 and served with the 1st/6th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, he was wounded in France and recovered at home before returning to the army where he was sent out to Egypt, he was Killed in Action on 6 November 1917. Albert is buried in the Beersheba War Cemetery (Ref F.52.), Israel
