In January 1915 at the age of 18, Alfred joined the Army and saw service in WW1 in the 10th Hussars.
In WW2 Alfred was stationed in Thornbury with the Maritime Regiment. Alfred also served in the 6th Wiltshire Regiment and in 1940 was stationed in Ratfyn in Wiltshire.
The cause of Alfred's death is unknown, but it was registered in Thornbury at the time, which suggests that he died whilst on home leave.
