Further information:

Arthur was born in Littleton-upon-Severn, the son of a brick and tile maker and a middle child of ten with five brothers and four sisters. One of his brothers and one of his sisters died as children. An older brother Hubert also saw war service and both brothers served and returned. Arthur married Annie Edith Evans in Cardiff in 1924 and Arthur and Annie emigrated to South Australia in 1927 where Arthur died 35 years later. The cause of his death is not known but it is unlikely to have been related to his war service.
