Further information:
Arthur had 1 younger brother and 3 younger sisters and married Gladys Catherine Pearce in 1933.
He was stationed on HMS Sultan which was the shore establishment of the Singapore Naval Base. It fell to the Japanese on February 15th 1942 along with the rest of Singapore and it is likely that Arthur was injured during the fighting. He died the following day possibly of wounds or possibly executed by the Japanese in the Alexandra Hospital massacre. The lack of a known burial site indicates that he was probably cremated.
