Arthur enlisted in peacetime on 29th August 1919 as a civilian into the Royal Air Force, joining as an Aircraft hand. He was subsequently appointed as a Class F Reservist. He died the following year in Tidworth Military Hospital Wiltshire as the result of a motor accident. The reason for the location of his grave is not known.
