Reginald Bertram Skinner was born in 1896 in Dodington. His parents were Charles and Emily Skinner of Wharf Cottage, Sutton Courtney, Abingdon, Berks. He had a brother called Cyril. His father had worked as a domestic gardener and he was born in Easton Grey in Wiltshire. In 1911 Reginald was working as a garden boy and his family were living in Dodington  

Reginald enlisted in Bristol. He joined the “C” Company of the 12th (Service) (Bristol) Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment as a private

Reginald was Killed in Action in June 1916 at the age of 20. He was buried in Faubourg D’Amiens Cemetery in France

He was awarded the Victory, British War and 15 Star medals

Reginald Bertram is remembered on the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre under Doddington
