Attended Chipping Sodbury Grammar school 1933-1936. Lost his life at sea on the British Merchant steam ship Toronto city out of Bristol when it was sunk by German U-108 (Klaus Scholtz) about 500 miles North of the Azores on 2nd July 1941 with loss of all 42 crew members on board. The ship had been employed as a weather observation ship and was reported missing after sending her last routine weather report at 15.00 hours on 1st July 1941.
