Further information:

Brian Evans is not recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves register, and as such I have not been able to find any information on his military service.

The Preston Hall sanatorium was used during the war as a hospital for wounded soldiers and other military personnel. Once more records are released, it should be possible to obtain more information.

Brian is buried in a private grave in the All Saints Church Cemetery together with his parents. His father died in 1961, and his mother in 1978. He is recorded on the Hambrook (Whiteshill Common) as Bryan J Evans, but his Christian name was spelt with an ā€œIā€.

The 1939 Register shows the family living in Winterbourne Down, with 4 children in the household, although the record for Brian is marked as being officially closed.
