Charles Daniel was the son of William and Mary Webb, he had a brother George and a sister Hannah. William Webb, born in Yate was a stone mason but had died by the 1911 census
Charles enlisted in Bristol into the 10th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment, so he would have been one of "Bristols own" a 'Pals' brigade. He died in the first days of the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and is buried in the Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-La-Boisselle, Somme, France
