Charles served with the 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers and was Killed in Action on 26 April 1915.

He is mentioned in the June 1915 Winterbourne Parish Magazine (photocopy of page on file). It says he was Killed in Action at the Dardanelles.

His mother was a widow and she was born in Winterbourne. She lived at Northwoods at the time of his death. He had a sister called Constance and the family lived at Crossley Cottage, Watleys End in 1901 with Alice’s step-mother Mary Ann Hollister.
