Royal Navy HMS Impulsive
The son of a railway warehouseman, Clarence had 1 younger sister and 3 younger half-sisters. His mother died when he was just 11 years old and he joined the Navy and the crew of the Impregnable in 1921 on his 18th birthday. He was described as 5'5" tall with black hair and brown eyes and was stationed on Victory II when he left the Navy in 1928. He married Edith Martin in Portsmouth in 1928 and re-joined the Navy in wartime. His last ship was the HMS Impulsive a destroyer tasked with mine-laying. Clarence died in Ham Green TB sanatorium in Bristol in 1941.
