Ernest married Yvonne Suzanne Charles in Bruay, France on 11/09/1917. Yvonne was a French citizen and she returned to France after her husband died.
On the 1901 Census, Ernest was living with his parents and 3 younger sisters at 12 Market Parade, Gloucester. His father Charles was a hotel proprietor. On the 1911 Census, Ernest was a boarder in Acton, Middlesex, but by then his parents seem to have separated, his father Charles being a groom in Gloucester and his mother Catherine a cook in Romsey, Hampshire.
Ernest was a Captain in Royal Air Force (Aeroplane Construction Service) and he died on 7/11/1918 of Bronchopneumonia at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Marylebone, London.
