Eden Short was born in 1893 in Frampton Cotterell, to parents John Davis and Jane Short, brother to Frances, Ethel and Lily. Eden was working as a milk deliverer and living at a dairy in Bristol in 1911.
Eden Short enlisted in Bristol and served with the 19th (Queen Alexandra’s Own) Royal Hussars, Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line (Yeomanry and Imperial Camel Corps) as a private. Eden was Killed in Action on the 8th October 1918 at the age of 25. He was awarded the Victory and British War medals.
Eden Short is buried at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gouy, France (Ref. III. D. 2). Eden is remembered on the Frampton Cotterell St Peter’s Church War Memorial and Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Frampton Cotterell.
