Edward Albert George was born in 1886 (September Quarter) in Bedminster in Bristol. His parents were Jesse and Eva Elizabeth Lewis. They were married in 1876 (June Quarter) in Bristol. His siblings were Eva, Selina and Lilian. It is possible that he had another sibling younger than himself. His father died in 1894 (September Quarter). His father had worked as a fishmonger and he had been born in Bath. Edward’s mother remarried in 1898 to John Thomas Slater. She lived at 14 Beryl Road in Bedminster in Bristol.
Edward joined the Royal Marine Light Infantry as a Lance Corporal. He served on H.M.S. Goliath. He died in May 1915 at the age of 29. He is remembered on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
Edward’s connection with Winterbourne is not known.
