Edwin's father was a tar still man. Edwin worked at Bristol Aircraft Company in Filton before being called up for military service. During an air raid on B.A.C he was the last to go to the shelter cover. As he approached the shelter a bomb made a direct hit, killing all those inside, Edwin was shook up and wounded

He married Hilda Marion Tozer in 1942

Edwin was killed in an ambush in Burma, he was preparing to return home when he and three other colleagues were blown up in their truck
