Ernest Eamer was born in 1897 in Hawkesbury, to parents Joseph and Emma Eamer of Hyde Park Row, Hawkesbury. He was one of 11 children. Brothers; Frank was born 1885, Charles was born 1887, Arthur was born 1889, William was born 1893, Joseph George was born 1895, Albert was born 1899 and Frederick was born 1901. Sisters; Alice was born 1903, Elice was born 1905 and Laura was born 1890
Ernest served with the 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry as private. He was killed on the 4th August 1917 and is remembered at Ypres, Belgium

Ernest Eamer was the youngest of six brothers to serve in the First World War. Ernest had enlisted in January 1915, as one of eight ‘pals’ from the village who enlisted together following a recruitment drive in the school rooms. He served at Ypres in 1915 and 1916, before fighting during the Battle of the Somme. On 4th August 1917 an advance party was sent up the line to Pilkem near Ypres to carry out a reconnaissance and it was while involved in this that the party was hit by shell fire and Private Ernest Eamer was killed
