Further information:

Francis Burrough was the younger brother of Charles J Burrough who during WW1 was the Rector of St Michaels Church of Winterbourne, and his death is mentioned in the August 1916 Winterbourne parish magazine. Their father Charles was also a member of the clergy. As far as I am aware, he never lived locally.

On the 1911 Census, he is recorded as Frank and as a visitor at the home of a Gerald Tatham in Wedmore, Somerset. He was with his wife Naomi Rose (Kaeppel) who he married in 1905, and his daughter Thelma Rose (born 1906).

His wife Naomi was born in Melbourne Australia, and on the pension card her address is given as Johannesburg, South Africa. It seems likely that Francis travelled overseas as there are very few UK records of him.

Francis served with the 6th Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry and was Killed in Action on 1/07/1916.
