Frederick Dando was born in 1897 in Frampton Cotterell, he was the son of Thomas Dando of School Lane, Westerleigh. In 1901 he was living with his grandparents in Frampton Cotterell and in 1911 he was living with his uncle Alfred Dando in Westerleigh
Frederick served with the 12th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment as a private. Fredrick died on the 23rd August 1918, he was awarded the Victory and the British War medals
Frederick Dando is remembered on the Vis-En-Artois memorial (Ref: Panel ), France. Also on the Westerleigh Memorial and on the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, which is now in Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Westerleigh
