Further information:
Frederick Donald Robinett (spelt incorrectly with an āeā on memorial).
Son of an iron moulder, he had an older sister. In September 1944 the 1st Dorsets supported the Guards Armoured Division in their initial advance to relieve the Allied airborne troops who had captured the bridges on the way to Arnhem. This operation failed and they had to move to low-lying land between Arnhem and Nijmegen and defend the area from recapture. They endured fierce fighting and suffered massive casualties, of which Frederick was one. He was initially reported as wounded then subsequently as missing presumed killed in action.
