Frederick was the son of George and Amanda Fletcher of Fir Grove Cottage, Chipping Sodbury. He was brother to George, Ellen, James and Mary. Their father was a coal miner who had been born in Iron Acton

Fredrick enlisted in Bristol and joined the 12th Service, Bristol Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment. Frederick was Killed in Action and is remembered on the Arras Memorial (Ref: Bay 6). Fredrick was just 20 years old when he died

Fredrick Fletcher is remembered on the Yate Lych Gate Memorial and the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, which is now at Yate and District Heritage Centre, under Yate
