Frederick Walker was born in 1894 in Winterbourne. His parents were Thomas and Verena Walker and they lived at Watleys End in Winterbourne. His siblings were William, Emma, Thomas and Ellen. He may have had another younger sibling. Frederick’s father worked as a farm labourer and he had been born in Winterbourne
Frederick joined the 6th Battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry as a private. He was killed in action in April 1917 at the age of 23. He is buried in Beaurains Road Cemetery in Beaurains in France. His name appeared on the Winterbourne Roll of Honour (August 1917)
