George attended the Merchant Venturers Technical College in Bristol and became a school teacher in the local area. In June 1914, he took up a teaching position at the Hitchin Road Boys School in Luton. On the 1911 Census, he is recorded as a school teacher and still lived at home with his parents, older brother and younger sister. George married Beatrice A Moon (4th Quarter) 1915.
George served with the 24th Battalion, London Regiment and was Killed in Action on 16/07/1917.
The award of the Military Medal was announced in the London Gazette dated 12/09/1916.
George is commemorated on the Christ Church Downend Memorial and the Staple Hill (Page Park) Memorial.
He is also commemorated on the Staple Hill Methodists Church memorial.
