Joseph George Eamer was born in 1895 in Hawkesbury Upton, to parents Joseph and Emma Eamer of Hyde Park Row, Hawkesbury Upton. He was one of 11 children, brothers; Frank was born 1885, Charles was born 1887, Arthur was born 1889, William was born 1893, Ernest was born 1897, Albert was born 1899 and Frederick was born 1901. Sisters; Alice was born 1903, Elice was born 1905 and Laura was born 1890

Joseph George Eamer enlisted with his younger brother Ernest in January 1915. He served with the 8th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry in France from October 1915. On 1st July 1916, he went over the top on the first day of the Battle of the Somme and was reported as missing. Sadly, he was confirmed as Killed in Action on this day

George and Ernest Eamer are remembered on the Chipping Sodbury and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital board, now at Yate and District Heritage Centre under Hawkesbury
