George Henry Andrews was born in around 1895 in Winterbourne. His parents were Albert and Eliza Andrews. His sisters were Minnie and Florrie. He may have had more siblings that were younger than him. George’s father worked as a stone-dresser and he had also been born in Winterbourne

George joined the 2nd/6th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment (Territorials) as a private. He died in August 1917 at the age of 22. He is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial (Panel 72 to 75) in Belgium. He is also remembered on the Whiteshill Common Memorial Cross (Winterbourne face) in Hambrook
