Further information:

Georges father (also George) married Sarah Jefferies in 1870, and they had a son James (born 1876). Sarah died in 1880 and is buried in St Barnabas churchyard. Sometime after 1880, George senior left for the USA (leaving James with his grandparents), and whilst in the USA married Pamela (about 1887) and in 1898 George junior was born in Pittsburgh USA. Shortly after 1898, the family returned to the UK. Pamela had also been married previously and had two daughters from the earlier marriage and they came back to the UK with her. George Jnr had an older full sister Lily who was born in the USA in 1888.

George served with the 10th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment and was reported Missing presumed Killed in Action on 23/03/1918 aged 19.
