George was one of 3 brothers and only 5 years old when his mother died. He married Lilian Rosa Parker in 1939 and had a son a year later. George's regiment was part of the British Expeditionary Force and following the evacuation from Dunkirk was stationed in East Riding Yorkshire, where George met his death. His son was just one year old when George died.
